Induction Ceremony of the President

The Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) ceremonially inducted its President for the 2026/2027 term on 25 April 2026 at the Eagles Lagoon View Banquet & Convention Hall, Katunayake.

The event was attended by distinguished members of the Tri-Services, senior medical and dental professionals, and representatives of the academic medical community, marking a significant occasion in the College's annual calendar.

The ceremony was graced by Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, as the Chief Guest, while Professor Vajira Dissanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, attended as the Guest of Honour.

The highlight of the evening was the formal induction of Air Commodore Harsha Kariyapperuma as the President of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine for the 2026/2027 term.

In his inaugural address, the newly inducted President unveiled the College theme for the year, "Defenders Above and Beyond: Strengthening Military Medicine for a Resilient Future." He outlined his vision for the forthcoming term, emphasizing the enhancement of military healthcare services, the advancement of medical education and professional training, the promotion of research and innovation, and the strengthening of collaboration among Tri-Service medical professionals. He reaffirmed the College's commitment to building a resilient and future-ready military healthcare system capable of meeting emerging challenges in both operational and peacetime environments.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment by the members of the College to uphold the highest standards of professional excellence and to work collectively towards the realization of the year's theme.
